Schrader Digital Pressure Gauge

Gauge on the wheel

You do not trust the gauge of the gas station? We tested for you three digital pressure gauges to check the tire.
Keeping tires calibrated prolongs its life and reduces the consumption, and ensure greater security in direction. But how to know the exact pressure contained therein? Calibrators of gas stations are not always reliable because there is no law that requires proper maintenance of this equipment. Therefore, it is not difficult to find equipment with the pressure difference of up to 20% of the registered. To avoid this problem, the solution is to use portable digital pressure gauges, that promise to measure the tire pressure with greater precision.
For the test, we invite the metrologyst Flávio Floret, the Office of Weights and Measures of the State of São Paulo (IPEM-SP), which was aided by the technical supervisor of the service center of pressure, Regina Calderaro. During evaluation, we use the pump and a pressure gauge comparator for standard tests of IPEM, to measure accurately the pressure recorded in each of three brands of digital pressure gauges are known in the market: Wagan Tech, Western and Schrader. In measurements, we chose the four scales most used at gas stations: 20, 30, 40 and 50 pounds / inch ² (psi), whose purpose was to assess the accuracy of each brand. "Of the three products we tested, all showed small margins of error, but my vote goes to the Schrader Bridgeport, which is more accurate and also has an alert sound when the measurement ends," says Floret.
