How can I know which mend or couch is the most suitable for the hole in my tyre?

Mends can be used in inner tubes only, and the couches may be used for permanent repairs in the tyre. In both cases the fix must take into consideration the size and the spot of the hole.

What are the valve components?

– Body: Stem or insertion, usually made of metal, with an inner thread and an inner tube, and a thread for assembling the valve cap or other appropriate element.

– Core: A standardized and interchangeable device, which is assembled inside the valve for allowing the fluid to enter, be retained or escape. It’s done in a managed way to adjust the system pressure.

– Valve cap: Outer element threaded on the valve’s entrance to avoid residuum to enter the valve or the system.

How can I be sure I?m acquiring a Schrader valve?

Schrader valves have ‘SBR’ engraved in the rubber and/or in the stem.

How can I know which valve is recommended for my car?s tires?

You should refer to regulations for manufacturing valves (ALAPA, TRA, ETRTO,...), which lists all possible and approved configurations for valves, rims and tires.

Is the valve cap really important?

Yes, because the cap prevents residuum of entering the valve and helps to minimize the pressure lost while the tyre is being used.

What?s the importance of the tyres? correct pressure?

It’s important to keep the correct pressure for saving gas, ensure all tyres outwear at the same pace and to ensure user’s safety.

How often should I check the tyres pressure?

The pressure checks must include the backup tyre and should be done every two weeks, using a reliable meter.

What are the proper conditions for checking the pressure?

The tyre pressure shall be checked when they are cold. When the vehicle has been moving for a while, the tyres pressure may increase up to 20%. That’s normal and it’s taken into consideration when the tyres are designed. Remember to calibrate the tyres following the manufacturer’s recommendations.

What happens if the tyres pressure is above the recommended one?

The tyre center gets outworn faster. If the pressure is higher than the recommended value, just the central part of the tyres touches the ground, and that reduces their life cycle.

What happens if the tyres pressure is below recommended one?

Both edges get outworn faster. If the pressure is lower than the recommended value, the tyre sides get lower and the central part does not touch the ground. That also reduces the tyre life cycle.

What does a valve extension do?

It makes it easier to access the valve for inflating / deflating the tyre.

What does a valve do?

The valve is a device used in a closed system for introducing or retaining a fluid under pressure. It may also be used for removing the pressurized fluid from the system.

May I use a tyre valve core in valves for automotive air conditioning?

No, because the core gasket for tyre valves has not been designed to operate with cooling fluid.
